Community
Mobilization
(also called Seeds of Change) promotes a healthy
community by drawing together people from all public spheres to
present clear and realistic alternatives to substance abuse and violence. Regular
strategy meetings and forums promote collaboration,
communication and a commitment to change. This
state-wide effort builds upon the strengths of each locale, creating circles
of understanding that focus on the best resources and generate learning,
growth and a clearer vision for the present and future of youth and adults.
Activities include
coalition building, Youth Leadership Councils, community-wide media
campaigns, Community Networking and Education Forums and the Island County
Drug Endangered Children Protocols.
Community Networking and
Education Forums
This series offers an
opportunity to meet and collaborate with other youth-oriented service
providers while hearing from a local educator and sharing lunch. These
quarterly forums allow youth stakeholders to gain useful information about
the work we all do, and make practical connections. Quarterly forums
in each Island County community make these events easily accessible to local
youth workers, bringing together social service providers and community members,
as well as representatives of schools, government and law enforcement.
