The Youth Leadership
Council is a youth-initiated, youth-led program of the South Whidbey Youth
Connection consisting of high school students living on South Whidbey Island.
Council participants meet regularly to plan and promote drug, alcohol and
violence free events. In recent years the Council has hosted open mike
nights and community concerts. The Council publishes a collection called
The Edge.
The YLC mission is to
empower youth to make a positive difference in the community by voicing
youth ideas and opinions, making efforts to bring about change through
understanding and acceptance. The YLC works to promote healthy
lifestyles and choices by bringing youth together in safe, diverse
environments. See Photo
