Art of Photography & Writing

All photos in this issue of Connections were taken by Ahren, Jen, Serena and Trevor—youth participating in a cool new program of the Youth Connection. Since March, youth have been gathering every Wednesday from 3:00-4:30 in the South Whidbey Commons (behind Island Coffeehouse in Langley) to learn more about digital and film photography from professional photographer and “Hub graduate” Michael Stadler.  Youth are encouraged to look deeper at the world nearby and write a poem or other expression of what they see.  Boosted by a great donation of cameras and lenses from professional photographer Jerry Lubinski, the group has been inside and outside discovering the colors, lights, shadows and delightful little wonders of the world all around.  Participants can bring their own cameras or use cameras provided by Michael.  We have already contributed images to The South Whidbey Record, Youth in Arts, The Edge teen magazine and this newsletter!  Look for our regular submissions in The Record, and return to our colorful Photo Page on the website at www.swyouth.com for updates of our most recent photos.
