EMPLOYER APPLICATION PROCESS & FORM

Thank you for your interest in hiring our highly motivated T.E.E.N. workers. Please note: This program is for residents of South Whidbey Island, only (Greenbank, south).

Our pool of 14-18 year olds has been pre-screened and reference-checked by us to ensure the best possible match based on age appropriateness, experience, skills and interests. All teens in our program are required to attend an orientation session covering such topics as job applications, attendance, work ethics, the importance of keeping a calendar, appearance, interviewing skills, knowing the job, how to behave on the job, employee rights, etc.

** Per State and Federal law, all persons supervising teens must undergo a background check, which requires that you give us permission and provide the full name and birth date of each individual supervising the teens, which we will submit to the Washington State Highway Patrol (You will be prompted for this information on the Employer Application Form--see below.).

Individual Employers: The hourly rate for short-term jobs (for example, doing yard work for a home owner) is $13.00. We pay the teens $9.00/hour, which is higher than the $8.55/hour minimum wage. The balance, $4.00/hour, covers payroll taxes, Washington State worker's compensation insurance, liability insurance and staff-related expenses. Fees are due directly upon the job's completion so that we, in turn, can pay the teens in a timely manner. All fees are payable to SWYC, though you may give gratuities directly to the youth.

Business Employers: If you are a licensed business, we will send up to three youths to be interviewed and charge you a one-time referral fee of $45.00 for each open position, payable in advance.
